Extraordinarily Rare & Possibly Unique
Wartime Fat Gripped Second Pattern F-S With 1964 Admiralty FR Code And Correct Sheath
Well they really don’t come much rarer than this one, it’s the only one of it’s kind that I have ever seen. A totally pristine and unused correct Wartime production Fat Gripped Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife with correct MoS (Ministry of Supply) inspection/ownership stamp of ⩚1 AND correct scabbard with nickel plated wide chap AND a 1964 Admiralty FR code on both scabbard and knife but the latter being marked on the edge of the crossguard, something I have personally never seem before - did you get all that? Truly extraordinary in ever way and possibly unique. This example must have remained ‘in-stores’ and un-issued with the Royal Navy Commandos through the end of the war and into the post-war years. In 1964 the Admiralty introduced a new stores coding system and FR693 & FR271 were allocated to the fighting knife & scabbard respectfully - this is one of those knives. The scabbard remains complete, showing only storage & handling wear and with the elastic retaining strap now at fault. The condition of the knife is stunning, totally pristine and unused, having retaining 100% of it’s original dark finish. The flawless blade is completely unused, with 100% factory finish, perfect tip and never having been sharpened or touched in any way, full length at 6 3/4”. Fat Gripped Second Patterns have a tentative association with the SAS due to photographic evidence of a Trooper carrying one in France post D-Day landings. This knife ticks ALL the boxes and even some you never thought existed, an incredible unique survivor, a wonderful and important piece of F-S history and an extraordinary addition to any F-S collection. If your passion leans toward condition and rarity, this is surely one to consider.
