Rare & Desirable John Clarke & Son 1943 Second Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

On of the most important F-S Knives is that of the J. Clarke & Son Second Pattern. This is a splendid and totally correct example. The knife has all the classic characteristics of a correct Clarke Second Pattern; lovely hand-ground blade with ‘peacock’ bluing at 6 7/8”, reversed grip knurling, distinct pommel nut profile ‘and’ importantly the companies full legend stamped on the underside (blade side) of the crossguard. This example also has the MoS stamp of ⩚9 stamped on the ferrule portion of the grip and it also has the import stamp to the upper portion of the guard. The knife shows general wear and use overall but remains in excellent and solid overall condition. The pommel nut is original and untampered with. The original and correct scabbard is complete but has some issues, most notably the frog being detached (see photos). Original, correct and fully marked Clarke knife are rare, this is a really splendid and completely correct example. A fabulous find.
