Fine Original c1941 Wilkinson First Pattern F-S Fighting Knife Complete With Correct Scabbard

A very fine, original and complete circa 1941 Wilkinson First Pattern F-S Fighting Knife, complete with it’s original and correct scabbard. This is hands down my favorite type of First Pattern to find, one that has clearly been issued, carried and used but remains in fine original condition, showing only reasonable and normal wear but no abuse. The full length blade is at 6 3/4” with both etching panels still strong, clear and readable. The hilt is nice and tight with no movement or issues and retaining almost all of it’s original plated finish. The pommel nut is original. The original scabbard is interesting, as it shows the telltale signs of how this genuine Commando Dagger was carried. The shortened ‘snipped’ wings are an indication that this knife was first carried in the correct proscribed way of being ‘sewn’ into the large map pocket of the battledress trousers - later being removed form this method of carry, it was just easier to cut the sewn part of the wings off. This was then, almost certainly worn/carried on the 37 pattern webbing belt, as the belt loops/slits have been slightly enlarged to accommodate the width/thickness of the webbing belt. I have seen both modifications on original First Pattern F-S scabbards many times and find it fascinating to see these, they tell the real story of how the original recipient - a Commando - would have carried this First Pattern F-S. Overall and excellent, totally honest and original example of a ‘real’ Commando F-S Dagger.
