Circa 1943 Wilkinson Indian Contract Third Pattern F-S Fighting Knife

A solid example of this very well made and robust mid-war Third Pattern. Produced (but I believe not delivered) for the 1943 Indian contract by Wilkinson. This mid-war Third Pattern has the thick hand-ground, full length blade at 6 3/4”. This example appears to have suffered from poor storage in it’s past as the blade shows signs of old pitting but appears to be re-finished. Aside from that one issue, the knives appears relatively unused, solid and original. The hilt is solid with most of it’s original finish remaining. The crossguard has the correct ‘⩚I MoS inspection stamp and is over-stamped with the US import mark of England, so never issues (as almost all of these are). The grip as the wartime cast grip mould number of ‘4’ and the pommel nut appears original and untouched. Perhaps not a minty example but a really solid knife, that presents well and is still serviceable and of course the price reflects it’s condition, so is very reasonable.
